Analyzing Trifles by Susan Glaspell: The Unheard Aspiration of Women

This kind of issue depicts in a play “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell. Despite a mysterious murder case is the focus of the story, there is also implied women’s status in society. How the society underestimate women’s aspiration affect the women psychologically. Women’s behavior and psychological condition that describes in this play is a reflection of the patriarchal society influence.      In order to solve the murder case of John Wright, the characters in this play carry out an investigation on the crime scene. They argue with each other opinions. However, it shows that women’s opinions were not so much heeded. Review: The Sick Rose by William Blake

  The Sick Rose William Blake   O Rose, thou art sick: The invisible worm, That flies in the night In the howling storm,   Has found out thy bed Of crimson joy; And his dark secret love Does thy life destroy.   https://www.almanac.com/plant/roses#        ‘The Sick Rose’ is a poem written by William Blake. The poem was included in the Songs of Innocence  which published in 1794. The Sick Rose consists of two stanzas and four lines in each and the rhyme is A B C B. The poem is using old English spelling.      The poem contains some personification and metaphors. In the words ‘O Rose you are sick’. ‘Rose’ means as woman or love. The metaphors are, invisible , howling , and bed . This poem is also using a lot of symbols, such as ‘worm’ which represents the death or sexual lust of men. The poem tells a story about a rose, a sick rose exactly, that unaware about its sickness. Review: A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes

  A Dream Deferred Langston Hughes What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore– And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over– like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode?   “Dream Deferred” is a short poem written by Langston Huge. This poem is one of his famous works. There are four stanzas with eleven lines in this poem. The poem uses many figurative language and metaphor, such as ‘like a raisin in the sun?’, ‘Does it stink like rotten meat?’, ‘Maybe it just sags like a heavy load’ and so on. In my opinion, this poem has successfully presented a good visualization through its figurative language in my mind when I read it. The rhyme of this poem is inconsistent. Book Review: Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

       A powerful story of a young girl in finding the courage to overcome her struggle as a victim of rape and bullying is very inspiring. In literary field, many authors try to portray the issue of bullying and sexual abuse in their works. One of them is in Speak  by Laurie Halse Anderson. Making her debut with this novel, Anderson marked her name as a best-seller author. Along with following novels which contain young-adult genre, Anderson was awarded the Margaret A. Ulasan Novel "My Sister's Keeper" Karya Jodi Picoult

    Halo! Kali ini aku mau membahas novel yang lagi aku baca akhir-akhir ini. Jujur, awalnya aku baca novel ini nggak sengaja waktu lagi nyari novel untuk bahan penelitian tugas kuliah hehe. Tapi ternyata temanya menarik banget, cukup dramatis dan tragis sih, tapi di satu sisi  relate juga sama kisah di dunia nyata. Soo , yuk langsung aja kita bahas!      My Sister's Keeper adalah novel karya seorang penulis Amerika Jodi Lynn Picoult terbit pada tahun 2004. Picoult memenangkan penghargaan New England Bookseller Award untuk karya fiksi pada tahun 2003. Banyak novel karya Picoult telah mencapai nomor 1 pada beberapa daftar buku terlaris, seperti Nineteen Minutes , Change of Heart , dan Handle with Care . My Sister's Keeper adalah salah satu karya Picoult yang fenomenal. Konflik etis, menyayat hati, dan tragis yang dihadirkan dalam novel ini banyak menuai kritik dan pujian. Novel ini juga telah diadaptasi menjadi film dengan judul yang sama pada tahun 2009. Aku udah nonton versi

Perilaku berbahasa maksudnya adalah sikap seseorang dalam memilih suatu bahasa. Pilihan itu dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor, salah satunya pergaulan. Biasanya perilaku berbahasa seseorang terpengaruh dari lingkungan pergaulan. Misal, seseorang yang bergaul dengan orang yang berbahasa Indonesia, maka ia juga akan berbicara dengan bahasa Indonesia. Begitupun dengan seseorang yang bergaul dengan orang yang terbiasa berbahasa daerah, maka ia akan berbahasa daerah dengan teman-teman sepergaulannya.  Di artikel ini, saya akan membahas tentang perilaku berbahasa teman-teman di sekitar saya.  Perilaku Berbahasa Teman-Temanku      Teman-teman saya berasal dari berbagai daerah, sebagian besar berasal dari Sumatera Barat.
